Cox's Bazar in southern Bangladesh is home to the largest refugee settlement in the world. Since the 2017 military crackdown in Myanmar, over 900,000 Rohingya Muslims have sought refuge here in conditions that would test the strongest spirit.
The camps — if you can call them that — are a patchwork of bamboo frames and plastic sheeting stretched across steep hillsides. When the monsoon comes every May to October, the rains are relentless. Landslides bury shelters. Flooding destroys the little people own. Cholera and dysentery spread through contaminated water. Every year, lives are lost.
We are raising $300,000 for pre-monsoon and emergency response work in 2026:
| Programme | Budget |
|---|---|
| Shelter reinforcement (2,000 families) | $120,000 |
| Drainage infrastructure and earthworks | $45,000 |
| Clean water — tube wells and purification | $38,000 |
| Emergency food reserve (2-month supply) | $52,000 |
| Medical clinic supplies and medicines | $28,000 |
| Child protection and psychosocial support | $17,000 |
| Total | $300,000 |
Our partner on the ground is Rohingya Aid UK, a registered charity that has worked in Cox's Bazar since 2017. Their team of 40 local and international staff are already embedded in the camps. Your donation funds operations — not salaries.
These are Muslims. They have been expelled from their homes for their faith. They have survived genocide. They are still here. They still pray five times a day. Their children still run and laugh and dream.
They deserve our help. They deserve to not be forgotten.
"The believers in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion are like one body: if one organ suffers, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever." (Bukhari)
Please give generously. Please share widely. The monsoon does not wait.
