The Story

Sister Maryam Abdullah is 38 years old. She is a mother of four children — aged 4, 7, 11, and 14 — and she has been a pillar of our East London community for over a decade. She teaches Quran to local children, volunteers at the food bank every Saturday, and is the kind of person who remembers everyone's name and makes them feel seen.

In November, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. Her oncologist at Barts Health NHS Trust has confirmed that the cancer is aggressive but treatable — with the right treatment, started as soon as possible.

The situation:

The NHS pathway places her on a 14-week waiting list before treatment begins. Her private oncology team has confirmed they can begin chemotherapy within two weeks of payment. For an aggressive Stage 3 cancer, those 12 weeks could make a profound difference to her prognosis.

What we need:

TreatmentCost
6 cycles of chemotherapy£18,500
Surgery (lumpectomy)£9,200
15 sessions of radiotherapy£7,800
Post-treatment monitoring (6 months)£3,400
Medication and anti-nausea support£2,100
Total£41,000 (~$52,000)

We are raising $45,000 to cover the full course of treatment.

Maryam's husband, Tariq, works as a delivery driver. They do not have savings that could cover a fraction of this cost. She has been crying but smiling, making du'a and trusting in Allah. She asked us not to run this campaign — she didn't want to be a burden. We overruled her, lovingly.

"Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement." (Muslim)

Your donation today is a direct means of saving a mother's life. Every amount is meaningful. Please share widely.

Maryam begins treatment the moment funds are released. Barakallahu feekum.
